Notable Aspects:
A very famous Khamseh design motif is the so-called ‘thousand birds’, displayed here prominently. South Persian roosters are famous on these rugs shown in profile, although there are several other birds displayed. The first can be seen in the orange spaces between the main medallions and the outer field, which could be a sparrow. The second, in the bottom right, looks like something we might see on an Akstafa rug, with long feathers, sometimes referred to as a peacock.
A personal favorite on this rug is the outer guard border, a repeating simple earth-toned slanted rainbow.
