Semi-Antique Indo-Bidjar Rug
#2456 Indo-Bidjar
3’-0” x 5’-2”
AGE & ORIGIN
2nd Q. 20th C.
India
OVERVIEW:
Around the turn of the century, London-based company ‘Oriental Carpet Manufacturers’ began to set up shop in Persia and Turkey, specifically in Hamadan and Konya respectively, and began manufacturing carpets for the western markets. We believe that this particular rug is an Indian copy of one of these Persian designs of the O.C.M. carpets, making it basically a copy of a copy. That being said, this is a handmade piece with an incredibly dense knot count, although the more ‘stiff’ design of the floral motifs betrays its Indian origins.
CONDITION:
Excellent condition
