OVERVIEW:
A showcase of different designs from all over the Caucuses make their home across this rug. Some of our favorites are the use of Lezgi stars as the main medallions, animals, latchhook ‘X’ shapes, hourglass borders, almost too many to name. This is also an unusual size, as many Caucasian rugs are in smaller. This rug was woven at a time when Shirvan was becoming more of a rug-producing powerhouse. A downstream effect of this was the use of more synthetic dyes, which have been utilized on this rug.
CONDITION:
Areas of wear, two major areas of repair make the rug slightly lop-sided. Some areas of exposed foundation and one area of re-weaving on main field.
