Notable Aspects:
An obviously very striking ‘French Rose’ motif repeating field. One of the most interesting aspects must be the use of the light brown on the field. From afar, the use of this color looks like the rug could be stained, but upon closer inspection, this is used to create shadows for the roses.
The roses are detailed because of the Malayir’s dense knotting, making the flowers almost like a photo, especially in comparison to the typical geometric flowers found on the main border.
The blue dyes on this rug are also great.
Some condition issues including stains that looked like color bleed, and an obvious ink stain on the center of the rug.
